Meena Datt
LLM (Hons)
Meena has been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in three common law jurisdictions, Fiji, New Zealand and New South Wales, Australia.
She was first admitted to the High Court of New Zealand in 1997 and has been in practice since. She pursued a Master of Laws, in New Zealand where her thesis studied the trade related aspects of Intellectual Property and fiduciary aspects of various legal relationships.
As a practising lawyer, Meena has an extensive, in depth knowledge of immigration law and the procedures of the Immigration New Zealand. Meena has represented migrant clients from all walks of life before the various Immigration Authorities and appeal bodies, the Minister of Immigration, Department of Labour and the Ombud’s office.
Prior to joining Berman & Burton, Meena practiced as a barrister sole and provided consultancy services to Hurakia Migration Limited, which has successfully represented many migrants. From March 2014, Meena took over as the Principal of the firm.
Meena speaks several languages including English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and has a working knowledge of other Asian languages.
